Job Summary

A pathologist interprets and reports results of surgical biopsy specimens and provides necessary follow-up consultation.

Responsibilities

Responsible for gross and/or microscopic examination of surgical pathology specimens and preparation of biopsy reports in a timely manner.
Meet caseload and turnaround expectations.
Responsible for providing telephone consultations to clients.
Consult with and assist other pathologists on difficult cases as needed to promote collegiality.
Interact with, advise, and assist laboratory personnel in proper specimen processing techniques and function as the pathologist on duty.
Promote growth by actively participating in pathologist meetings and developing and maintaining professional contact with clients.
Participate in quality control programs.
Maintain proficiency and develop diagnostic skills through regular continuing education.
Other duties as assigned or required.
