Position Overview

As a Corrections Education Facility Administrator, you will be part of a diverse team who provides educational and vocational opportunities designed to assist students in making a successful transition from a corrections environment to the community. Essential Functions

  • Plans and directs educational program including elementary/secondary education, vocational programs, special education, curriculum approval, work/shift assignments, etc.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Monitors preparation/submittal of reports required by the Office of Adult Education and Vocational Services, facility requests for data, State Board of Education, College Contracts, Affirmative Action, Personnel, etc.
  • Prepares and monitors budgetary needs and expenditures.
  • Travels to attend/participate in staff meetings, workshops, other developmental programs designed to improve/expand educational offerings.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties numerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires Professional Educator License with a General Administrative Endorsement.
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible professional teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers working experience planning and directing an educational program.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years’ experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating an educational program along with recommending improvements.
  • Prefers at least five (5) years’ educational experience.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years’ supervisory experience.
  • Prefers working experience developing, analyzing, and monthly tracking reports for an educational program.
  • Prefers knowledge of educational programs in a correctional setting.
  • Prefers working knowledge of federal and state educational laws.
  • Prefers proficiency in the use and development of computer-generated spreadsheets, reports, and documents.
  • Prefers working experience working within a budget.

  • Requires the ability to travel.
  • Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
