Opportunity:
SENIOR ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL: Phenemonal opportunity due to a retirement for a 10+ year attorney with proven written and digital publication and editorial experience. Chicago based. Hybrid.
The Job:
- Will provide legal counsel to the Editor-in-Chief and others regarding written and digital publishing contracts.
- A lot of daily personal interaction with executive management on a wide range of matters.
- Will review pre publication content for defamation, privacy, IP, and other potential issues.
- Will support content creation and protection of IP assets.
- Monitor outside counsel when necessary
What you will bring:
- A minimum of 10 years of legal experience, at least half in-house with either a for profit or non-profit company
- Proven pre-publication and editorial experience
- In-depth experience structuring, negotiating, drafting, and reviewing a wide range of agreements
- Content creation experience
- An excellent academic record along with very strong oral and written communication skills
