Job Title : AVP, Associate General Counsel
Our A+ rated Commercical Carrier client is Legal & Compliance team is seeking an AVP, Associate General Counsel to provide legal support to the Environmental Underwriting Division. This role will focus on product development and compliance support across surplus lines and admitted business, as applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise underwriters on policy interpretation, claim trends, and relevant insurance laws and regulations.
- Draft, revise, and develop various legal documents, including insurance policies, endorsements, applications, and supporting materials.
- Respond to coverage analysis requests from underwriters and negotiate policy language with brokers and policyholder representatives.
- Monitor and inform underwriters of legislative and judicial developments affecting their business lines.
- Review and amend non-disclosure agreements upon request.
- Support ongoing improvement of standard agreements and assist in policy and procedure implementation.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- 2–4 years of legal experience, with a focus on insurance coverage.
- Experience in product development and coverage matters is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines independently.
- Strong analytical and technical capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to various audiences.
- Environmental insurance experience is preferred.

This role offers a comprehensive total rewards package, which may include incentive compensation in addition to base salary. Final compensation is determined based on experience, location, and scope of responsibilities.
