Job Description
Title: Recombinase Testing Specialist (Advanced)/Biologist
Location: Chesterfield, MO 63017
Duration: 12 Months
- The biologist in this role will use molecular cloning, transient plant transformation, DNA extraction, DNA sample cleanup, and basic sequence analysis to test recombinase variants for activity and specificity.
- Candidates should have hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory environment and preferably also with plant tissue culture.
Core Technical Skills
- Molecular cloning (restriction/ligation, Gibson assembly, Golden Gate, etc.)
- DNA extraction and purification
- Sequence analysis (basic bioinformatics tools like BLAST, CLC Workbench, Geneious)
Plant Biology Experience:
- Transient plant transformation (e.g., Agroinfiltration)
- Plant tissue culture (preferred)
Recombinase Testing:
- Understanding of site-specific recombination systems (Cre/lox, FLP/FRT, etc.)
- Ability to assess activity and specificity of recombinase variants
Preferred Background
- Education: BA or BS in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, or related field
Experience:
- Hands-on work in a molecular biology lab (academic or industry)
- Plant tissue culture experience is a strong plus
Soft Skills
- Attention to detail in experimental design and data recording
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
