JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Care Professional (YCP) is responsible for providing direct care and supervision for unaccompanied children and youth. Services are provided primarily to children between the ages of 0 -17, residing in a 24- hour shelter funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). YCP is also responsible for facilitating a variety of services for youth including providing program orientation, safe transportation, intake services, and may be asked to assist in vocational, recreational, and structured leisure services. The YCP must ensure that services comply with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) licensing rules and ORR policies. -Must strictly enforce and adhere to ORR’s Zero Tolerance Policy regarding abuse and neglect and all relevant ORR policies and procedures always ensuring the safety of the children and youth.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of experience working with youth preferred.
• Experience working in a shelter setting is a plus.
• Show a history of organizational skills and an ability to communicate accurately and effectively with multiple members of a team.
• Well organized, highly motivated, excellent communication skills, leadership skills that also display integrity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
• The ability to type and use a tablet/iPad, laptop, or desktop is needed to complete daily tasks.
