Come join the exciting and dynamic Fiscal Policy Process Improvement (FPPI) team! FPPI is responsible for monitoring and tracking DTSC fees, overseeing the collection and administration of fees, and developing and implementing customized fee forecasting models. The branch communicates with the public on fee-related inquiries and coordinates with our fee collection agency. Join us today!

As a Research Data Specialist I you will have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct complex fiscal analysis of DTSC using qualitative, quantitative, and data-driven statistical analysis
  • Research CDTFA and DTSC’s fee related laws and regulations to assess fee collections, compliance, and enforcement authority
  • Provide expert consultation on the feasibility and fiscal impacts of various departmental operations, projects, and/or proposals to the department and to other organizations
  • Serve as a project manager on a variety of departmental fee management and reform activities including the recommendation, development and implementation of rulemaking packages and legislative proposals
  • Perform difficult, complex, and/or time sensitive fiscal analyses of proposed regulations and legislation
  • Evaluate the adequacy and merits of proposed regulations and the Economic and Fiscal Impact statement (std. 399) submitted by DTSC programs

1. Describe your knowledge, skills, and experience with data analytics and data reconciliation, including what steps do you use to check data quality, data integrity, and data analysis purposes.

2. Describe your knowledge, skills, and experience with revenue forecasting and monitoring. Please include any experience you may have with the state budgeting process and state accounting, including but not limited to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accrual accounting.
