Job Description
Join an innovative design team at a global automotive company as a Design Engineers specialized in steering wheel design. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional with a strong automotive background in steering wheel design or chassis experience. You will contribute to the development and optimization of initial concept to finish production through execution.
Responsibilities
- Conducts and drives steering component design and development.
- Manage and execute a design schedule, effectively managing deliverables and deadlines.
- Own and oversee cost management on the design project.
- Spearhead necessary engineering analysis for the steering component design and development.
- Conducts design feasibility, cost analysis, and strength calculations.
- Conducts material selection, part construction, and part specification.
- Schedules and coordinates activities involved in prototyping, fabricating, and manufacturing of assigned products and systems.
- Analyzes components/parts in area of specialty to ensure that established layout, quality, and cost.
- Ensures performance standards and regulatory requirements are met or exceeded.
- Recommends cost-effective design modifications and improvements that support testing and mass production.
Required Skillset:
- 5+ years of experience as a Design Engineer in steering components and design (Chassis experience can be substituted)
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience may be substituted for required degree.
- Strong CATIA V5 experience is required.
- 3-5+ years of previous automotive experience.
- Experience in offroad equipment or heavy trucks can be substituted.
- 5+ years of engineering analysis experience.
- Previous project management experience managing design projects from concept to production.
- Proficiency in cost management.
- Strong cross-collaboration experience.
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Bonus Skillset: CATIA V6 experience.
- Previous experience working in R&D experience.
Duration: 12 months
Location: Raymond, OH (Hybrid)
Travel: Up to 5% domestic travel
