Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES General: - Serve as staff liaison to the Environmental Board, Rice Creek Watershed District, Vadnais Lake Area Water Management Organization (VLAWMO), Anoka County Solid Waste group as well as other boards and commissions.
- Perform administrative duties including budget preparation, monitoring expenses, writing grants and preparing staff reports for environmental programs.
- Respond to citizen questions, complaints and requests for assistance related to native landscaping, drainage, erosion control, tree preservation and water quality issues.
- Develops environmental education opportunities and implements an environmental outreach program. Prepares informational pieces and public service announcements as necessary.
- Train and supervise seasonal interns and recycling intern.
- Prepare surveys and take inventories of various environmental elements of the community to include indigenous/migratory animals and plants.
- Assist with the development of ordinances and policies to protect and enhance environmental resources of the community.
- Perform weed and code compliance inspections.
- Review development proposals for conformance with City environmental development standards including landscaping and stormwater management.
Surface Water Resources/Ground Water/Wellhead Protection: - Coordinates implementation of National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program.
- Coordinates annual inspection of privately maintained storm water permit best management practice (BMP) sites for functionality and compliance.
- Coordinates wellhead protection activities in the City.
- Implements and administers the City's erosion control program including plan review, site inspection and follow-up. Investigates and follows up on illicit discharge complaints.
- Coordinates and assists with protection and vegetative management of City owned native vegetation areas including wetland banking areas.
Recycling and Solid Waste: - Coordinates the City's solid waste and recycling programs.
Forestry: - Administers City Emerald Ash Borer plan diseased tree control program, tree inventory, hazard tree assessment for public property trees, tree preservation plan reviews, maintain public property trees (replace, plant fertilize, pest control, etc.) and coordinates boulevard tree planting.
Other: - Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Regular, full time employees of the City of Lino Lakes are eligible for a benefits package. Annual Leave - Paid time off for vacation, sick leave, or personal leave. Accrues each pay period. 15 days per year for the first 5 years of employment.

Deferred Compensation Plan (457) - Income set aside on a pre-tax basis for the purpose of retirement income. Investments are participant-directed. Participation is optional and the City does not contribute to the plan.
