Overview:
Kimley-Horn's Austin North, Texas (TX) office is seeking a Environmental Planner with 5+ years of experience to join their Environmental team! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare Environmental Quality Act documents, environmental impact reports, and negative and mitigated negative declarations
- Assist in Specific Plans, Master Plans, and other environmental or planning policy documents in support of a full range of infill and/or land development related projects
- Perform a variety of tasks, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members.
- Will likely gain expertise in: Sustainability, climate action planning, ENVISION, LEED, and Salmon-Safe
- Environmental clearance associated with local comprehensive plans/local land use planning
- Working with infrastructure projects from across industries such as transportation, transit, land planning, aviation
Qualifications:
- Bachelors (BS) or Masters (MS) in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, or related degree.
- 5+ years of experience conducting environmental studies for local agencies and private entities
- Experience with a wide range of tasks related to environmental planning
- Understanding of the agencies involved with the Environmental Quality Act process as well as the state's Land Planning Law
- Experience with NEPA compliance is a plus
- Strong writing/verbal skills
- Working knowledge of GIS/ArcView
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
- Ability to work independently and as a team
