Position Overview
Valor Pavement Solutions is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with strong takeoff capabilities and proven knowledge of asphalt and concrete estimating . This role is critical to our continued growth and requires someone who can independently prepare accurate, competitive bids for commercial, municipal, and private-sector projects.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, disciplined, and comfortable working with plans, specs, and tight bid deadlines. This position works directly with ownership and operations leadership and has a direct impact on company profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for:
- Asphalt paving, milling, and patching
- Concrete flatwork (curb & gutter, sidewalk, ramps, pads, etc.)
- Base materials (ABC), subgrade prep, and demolition
- Prepare complete estimates from plans and specifications, including:
- Labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs
- Review bid documents, special provisions, and owner requirements
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Assemble and submit bids accurately and on time
- Maintain historical cost data and pricing libraries
- Collaborate with operations to ensure scope alignment and smooth project handoff
- Assist with value engineering and scope clarification when needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of construction estimating experience
- Strong experience estimating asphalt paving projects
- Working knowledge of concrete estimating , including flatwork and site concrete
- Proficient in construction drawings, specifications, and takeoff methodologies
- Experience with estimating software and digital takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Excel, ProEst, HCSS, or similar)
- Strong math skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with municipal or public works projects
- Familiarity with local Arizona standards and specifications
- Background in site work or heavy civil construction
- Veteran or prior service background a plus
