Fence Installation Laborer
Position Overview: The Fence Installation Laborer is responsible for assisting in the installation of various types of fences under the direction of the Crew Leader or Foreman. This role requires physical strength, stamina, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. The Laborer will perform a variety of manual tasks, including digging holes, carrying materials, and assisting with fence assembly, to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assistance in Fence Installation:
- Assist with the setup and preparation of job sites for fence installation, including clearing debris, marking boundaries, and setting up equipment.
- Dig post holes using hand tools or powered equipment, ensuring holes are of the appropriate size, depth, and alignment.
- Carry and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from the work area as needed.
- Assist in the assembly, erection, and installation of fence panels, posts, gates, and other components according to project specifications.
- Material Handling:
- Load and unload trucks with fence materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring safe handling and proper storage.
- Organize and maintain materials and equipment in the yard or work area, keeping inventory neat, organized, and accessible.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, and material tracking as directed by the Crew Leader or Foreman.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for oneself and others.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats, as required.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to the Crew Leader or Foreman immediately.
- Quality Assurance:
- Assist in the inspection of materials, tools, and equipment for defects or damage prior to use.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure proper installation techniques and quality standards are met.
- Participate in quality control activities, such as checking fence alignment, spacing, and integrity during installation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor tasks in an outdoor environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow directions from supervisors.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in fence installation techniques and safety practices.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Note: This role may involve heavy lifting, bending, stooping, and working at heights. Proper training and safety precautions should be followed at all times to minimize the risk of injury.
