Job Description
Position Summary:
The FSQA Technician supports the Food Safety & Quality Assurance department by performing routine quality checks, maintaining documentation, and ensuring the facility remains audit-ready. This role enables the FSQA Director to focus on strategic food safety initiatives while maintaining day-to-day compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, organize, and archive production, sanitation, and quality records (digital & physical).
- Perform environmental monitoring swabs and ship samples to accredited laboratories.
- Conduct internal GMP/food safety walkthroughs and support pre-audit preparation.
- Assist with customer documentation requests (spec sheets, COAs, allergen/GMO statements, certifications).
- Maintain sample retain program and coordinate shelf-life and product validation studies.
- Support finished product and in-process quality checks (packaging integrity, coding, weights, labeling).
- Help manage document control: SOP updates, revision logs, controlled copies.
- Track corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and verify completion.
- Maintain supplier approval records (questionnaires, LOGs, audit certificates, COAs).
- Assist with employee food safety/GMP training activities.
- Monitor calibration/verifications (scales, thermometers, magnets, metal detectors).
- Compile data for FSQA KPI dashboards (complaints, EMP trends, audit scores).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related technical field or equivalent experience in FSQA
- Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, allergen control; SQF or other GFSI scheme familiarity a plus.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills; comfort with digital document systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for audit/customer interaction.
Work Environment:
Primarily plant-floor and office setting with routine exposure to manufacturing areas.
