Junior Production Underwriter – Specialty Insurance

Location: Woodbury, NY (Hybrid)

Compensation: $90,000 – $105,000 (Based on Experience)

Harrison Gray Search is recruiting on behalf of a growing insurance organization seeking a Junior Production Underwriter to support and drive underwriting operations for a suite of specialized insurance programs. This hybrid role blends underwriting, relationship management, and light field sales, offering a well-rounded opportunity for an up-and-coming commercial P&C underwriter ready to take the next step.

This position is ideal for a licensed underwriter with strong foundational experience and a desire to expand into program development and client-facing work.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business within assigned programs
• Monitor program performance, including loss trends and rate adequacy
• Assist in negotiating terms, conditions, and rates with carrier partners
• Gather and organize data for program submissions and renewals
• Support two days per week of outbound sales calls, targeting universities and specialty schools
• Track market intelligence and maintain documentation of non-renewed or declined opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Active Property & Casualty license
• 3+ years of experience in commercial P&C underwriting
• Strong understanding of insurance policies and coverage terms
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities
• Comfortable working in a hybrid environment (mix of in-office and remote)
