Candidate will need to cover their own malpractice insurance
This location is the main lab facility processing around 6 million samples per year. They process samples for the entire Atlantic division.
- Board Certs: AP/CP with Cytopathology a plus (but not required if candidate has cytopath experience)
- State Licenses: NC/SC/GA/VA/TN/MD/DC (need at least NC plus 1-2 other medical licenses)
- Current Cytology Proficiency Test Results (required – results cannot be over 1 year old)
- Cytyc and SurePath morphology training certifications (required – if they have current cytology proficiency test but not the training certifications, we are willing to review candidate as we can schedule the training once on-boarded)
- Case mix includes: GYN cytology (abnormal pap smears), Non-GYN cytology, GYN biopsies (cervical/endometrial/LEEPs), breast biopsies, oral biopsies, and peripheral smears
- No frozen section coverage, on-call responsibilities, or autopsies
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Pathologist to join our team. As a Pathologist, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and monitoring diseases by examining patient samples, interpreting laboratory results, and collaborating with other medical professionals. Your expertise will contribute to accurate diagnoses, treatment decisions, and patient care, ensuring the highest standards of medical practice.
Job Duties:
- Perform thorough examination and analysis of patient samples, including blood, tissue, and bodily fluids, using advanced laboratory techniques and equipment
- Accurately interpret laboratory results to diagnose diseases, disorders, and conditions based on microscopic and molecular observations.
- Will be responsible for signing off on cases that come through the laboratory.
- For surgical pathology cases, peripheral blood smear cases - Surgeons will schedule meetings with the Pathologist and render diagnosis from slides received
- Provide consultation services to healthcare professionals, offering expert opinions and guidance on complex cases and challenging diagnoses.
Education/ Requirements:
- Must have a MD degree (Doctor of Medicine) or DO degree (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)
- Must have a valid North Carolina Medical License
- Must have at least 1-2 years of experience
