Position Details:
- Role: Contract Physical Therapist
- Location: Schools near Westchester, NY
- School Year: 2024-2025, 2025-2026 , renewal options available
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, regular school hours
- Caseload: Opportunities to work with students diagnosed with autism at the Pre-K and Elementary levels
Experience & Requirements:
- Prior experience working with children with autism is preferred
- Experience in a school-based or pediatric setting is a plus
- NY Physical Therapy Licensure (or eligibility)
- Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
- Pediatric experience is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and provide physical therapy to children with motor impairments and developmental delays related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve strength, balance, coordination, and functional mobility.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to help children develop gross motor skills and address physical challenges in daily activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive support for students’ physical development in the school environment.
- Monitor and track student progress, adjusting therapy interventions as needed to ensure continued growth and success.
- Conduct and participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, ensuring physical therapy goals are aligned with students' educational and developmental objectives.
- Provide training and support to school staff and families to help incorporate physical therapy goals into daily activities and routines.
