About UsPecora Corporation, a U.S. manufacturer of premium architectural weatherproofing products since 1862, is seeking an experienced and motivated Bench Chemist specializing in silicone formulation of a diverse range of silicone-based technologies, including sealants, adhesives, coatings, and specialty materials.
Key Responsibilities· Develop and formulate silicone-based products such as adhesives, sealants, coatings, encapsulants, and other silicone-based solutions to support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Conduct polymer synthesis, formulation optimization, and performance testing in accordance with ASTM and in-house specifications.
· Operate laboratory equipment including viscometers, mechanical testers, analytical balances, and mixers.
· Maintain thorough documentation of lab work, prepare technical reports, and communicate project progress to the development team.
· Provide technical support for scale-up, manufacturing transfer, and troubleshooting of silicone product lines.
· Develop expertise in silicone chemistries and contribute to product performance enhancements and process optimization.
Required Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science.
· Hands-on experience formulating reactive silicone systems in an R&D or industrial setting.
· Ability to work independently in a laboratory environment with minimal supervision.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and utilization of AI related research platforms.
· Excellent attention to detail and documentation practices.
Preferred Qualifications· 2+ years of industry experience developing a broad range of silicone-based materials including adhesives, encapsulants, coatings, and other functional chemistries.
· Familiarity with ASTM test methods applicable to silicone products such as adhesives, sealants, coatings, encapsulants, and other silicone-based solutions.
· Knowledge of silicone raw materials, crosslinking and catalyst systems.
· Experience in a fast-paced, product-driven R&D environment.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to lab safety.
