Overview:
We are partnering with a respected mechanical contracting firm in Cincinnati, Ohio , to find a Senior Estimator with expertise in HVAC and/or plumbing systems. This is a leadership role ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering accurate, competitive project estimates. You'll oversee regional estimating efforts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success from bid to build.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead estimating efforts for HVAC and plumbing projects in the Cincinnati region.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with internal teams to maintain and improve estimating tools and databases.
- Ensure smooth project handoffs from estimating to project management.
- Draft clear, concise scope letters and conduct scope reviews with vendors.
- Stay current with industry-standard estimating software and participate in training as needed.
- Provide estimating support to other regions when required.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of commercial HVAC or plumbing estimating experience.
- Alternatively, completion of an approved apprenticeship program plus 3 years as a Journeyman.
- Proven ability to lead and finalize complex job estimates.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of plumbing and piping systems.
- Excellent math and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software is a plus.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable presenting to clients and conducting scope reviews.
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Journeyman Plumber or HVAC license (or equivalent experience) preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to conduct site visits, including climbing ladders and accessing equipment.
- Vision correctable to 20/50.
