Position Overview:
The University of Minnesota is seeking a dynamic and experienced Special Project Manager for a temporary 5 to 6-month, part-time (20hrs. - week), position. This role will focus on initiating and completing an economic impact study, working closely with senior leadership to deliver a comprehensive and insightful report to the Board of Regents. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in institutional settings and will be adept at navigating various colleges and units to gather essential data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the economic impact study project from inception to completion, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Work across different colleges and units within the university to obtain necessary data, ensuring cooperation and effective communication.
- Analyze data and compile comprehensive reports that reflect the economic impact of the University of Minnesota.
- Present findings to senior leadership and other key stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Ensure all project activities align with the universityâ™s strategic goals and financial policies.
- Provide regular updates to the AVP of Finance and other senior leaders on project progress, challenges, and milestones.
- Address any issues or roadblocks promptly and effectively to keep the project on track.

- Bachelorâ™s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field, plus at least eight years of related experience; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in a similar role within an institutional setting, preferably in higher education.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully leading and completing projects.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across different departments and units.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership.
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools used for data analysis and project management.
