Between your work preparing and reviewing new accounts and renewals, to ensuring the accurate and timely underwriting of a policy , your work will ensure California Casualty is there for it’s customers in their time of need, just as they are there for us daily!

Your Role Explained.

Roles and responsibilities of this position include...

  • Line Underwriting: Evaluates existing and prospective customer policies by interpreting underwriting guidelines for the purpose of determining overall policy acceptability as well as appropriate premiums; makes adjustments when necessary.
  • Documentation: Tracks, documents and files relevant policy information and history to ensure clear and accurate communication between departments as well as adherence to established underwriting procedures.
  • Legal/Contract Administration: Ensures compliance with statutory, regulatory, judicial regulations as well as CCMC’s underwriting standards to assist the organization in accomplishing established risk writing goals and objectives.
  • Customer Service: Respond to internal and external customer requests within designated timeframes.
  • Other Duties as Required: Job may require fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.

What We’re Looking For.

To ensure success within this role, we are looking for a candidate with the following skillsets and experience…

Business Experience:

  • Some experience with Underwriting, Sales, or Customer Service and a proven record of regularly meeting and/or exceeding established production and accuracy goals.
  • Thorough knowledge of property & casualty insurance products (auto/home/boat) and underwriting procedures required.

Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: BA/BS

Depending upon experience, this position can be filled at either the Underwriter I or II level.

The pay range for an Underwriter I is $22.14 - $32.12 per hour, and $51,189.00 - $76,814.00 per year for an Underwriter II; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The company also offers a full range of medical, financial and other benefits, including eligibility for the company’s performance sharing plan and paid time off such as holidays, vacation, sick, and personal holidays.
