Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Upper School French Teacher for a maternity leave position. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a French immersion classroom and engaging students in meaningful language learning experiences. This is a temporary position with the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach four classes (French 2, French 2 Honors, French 3 and French 3 Honors)
- Create and implement engaging French language lesson plans for upper school students.
- Lead classroom activities that promote language acquisition and cultural awareness.
- Maintain an immersive classroom environment where students are encouraged to communicate primarily in French.
- Assess and track student progress, providing feedback to support growth in language proficiency.
- Communicate with parents as needed and with the support of the department
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school activities as needed
- Support the 10th grade team during class meetings and advisory activities
Qualifications:
- Experience as a classroom teacher, preferably at the upper school level.
- Proficiency in French, with a deep understanding of language instruction and pedagogy.
- Ability to create a positive, student-centered learning environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt lesson plans as needed.
- Enthusiasm for promoting language learning and cultural exploration.
Position Type:
- Maternity leave position, with a duration of approximately 6 weeks.
- Full-time, temporary role.
- Start date January 6, 2025
