This highly visible executive will be responsible for the strategic direction of the construction team at UPMC. The Vice President, Construction directs development, planning, and construction activities of new and/or renovated facilities to support the current and future space requirements of UPMC's administration, clinical and research needs. He/she oversees the selection and work of architectural and engineering firms performing services for UPMC facilities across the domestic footprint along with UPMC’s signage, equipment planning, and departmental community engagement initiatives. He/she directs community and municipal outreach, and engagement related to planned UPMC projects and discussions regarding their impact. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Construction, Real Estate & Facilities.

Qualifications
- Appropriate educational pedigree in Engineering, Business or Real Estate Development related fields required, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 15 years experience within planning, design, development, engineering or construction, with healthcare focused projects experience required.
- Diverse construction leadership experience, effective in strategically defining and implementing multi-state various-scale construction projects and the management of large teams.
- A proven creative and strategic thinker, aware of national and contemporary construction design/build trends, and best practices, including the use of technology, digitization, automation, and AI, as appropriate.
- Financially savvy in negotiating and managing the entire operational lifecycle/continuum of multi-hundred-million-dollar master plans/budgets/projects, from land acquisition through design/build. Experienced in managing internals teams, vendors, contractors, and budgets of all stripes with a comprehensive understanding of managing such things as labor, materials, and schedules.
- Past success with attracting, mentoring and leading internal talent. Highly preferred are past experiences in developing apprentice and community talent programs for labor and trades to ensure a talent pipeline.
